LEO Review
Leo or Leger Opinion is a survey site that pays online research participants in cash for their opinions. Considered Canada’s largest market research panel with more than 600 employees and over 400,000 members, we’ve checked if Leo lives up to its high expectations.
Is LEO a legit survey site?
Yes, Leo is legit and considered Canada’s largest and most popular survey site, operated by the long-established market research provider Leger Opinion. A key aspect of Leger’s strong position in the Canadian market is its expertise and knowledge of local conditions and the ability to conduct research in both English and French, which is essential in a country with two official languages. This is particularly important in Quebec, where the majority of the population speaks French.
Having local knowledge is critical when conducting market research, as cultural nuances, regional differences, and language preferences can all impact consumer behaviour and perceptions. Leger Opinion’s team of researchers has extensive knowledge and experience working with Canadian consumers and businesses, which allows them to provide valuable insights that are tailored to the Canadian market.
Data Privacy: Any reason for concern?
Your personal privacy will be protected when you participate in LEO’s research surveys and events. Your personal information such as name, address, phone number, and email address will not be available to anyone without your knowledge unless it is for research purposes or if it is required by law. Third-party agents may be allowed to host surveys or panel events to collect personal information. Still, the said information will be delivered to LEO directly and will not be shared with anyone or used for any other purpose without your consent.
How to get started
Simply fill out their registration form with your name, email, and password to register. They will send you a confirmation email. Click the confirmation link, and your account will be active. You can then log in to their site and start answering surveys. The LEO panel is available on multiple devices via online websites and mobile apps. The survey site is open for Canadian and US residents. There is no mention of age requirement, but since they are using PayPal as a payment method, then you have to be at least 18 years old to register and be able to withdraw your earnings at PayPal.
What about the survey experience?
You will be able to work on survey offers from your mobile device. Just download the LEO app and install it on your mobile device. The app can be downloaded from Google Play and the iOS App Store. During your first login, you will immediately see a survey offer. This survey is used to build your profile, and you will still be rewarded for completing this survey. They send you a summary of the surveys available on the app daily. You will receive notification emails when surveys are available for you to complete.
How much can you make on LEO?
LEO uses a point system for their rewards. Surveys pay anywhere from $0.50 to $35 depending on the time required to complete and/or the type of information needed. The equivalent of 1000 points in your balance is $1. You earn 1000 LEO points for every friend you refer. Your friend must confirm their email address, fill out a profile, and answer at least one survey.
Request a cash payout to your PayPal account starting at 20,000 LEO points or $20. Your PayPal email must be the same as your Leger Opinion account email address. You can get a $20 Tim Horton’s gift card for 20,000 points or a $20 Starbucks gift card for 20,000 points. You can also request a $20 prepaid Visa card for 20,000 points, or you can cash out using a cheque if your balance is $50 or more. Members can choose to redeem their points for Air Miles and Aeroplan Miles.
What can prevent me from cashing out?
Your biggest risk of not being able to cash out is not being able to accumulate enough LEO points to meet the minimum payout threshold. While LEO pays a fairer incentive than many competitors, we would have liked to see the minimum payout for PayPal much lower than $20. Many survey sites offer as low as $5 as the threshold for cash payouts.
Always be attentive and honest when taking surveys, as the survey site has checks in place. Answers that fail these checks could result in the rejection of your survey submissions. Only one account is allowed per member, and creating multiple accounts is regarded as fraud which may result in you being banned and losing the money accumulated in your account.
