What company is behind ySense?

Ysense is run by Prodege, LLC, based in El Segundo, California. Other companies in the Prodege family include Swagbucks and InboxDollars. Despite its unsavoury reputation, ySense is not a scam. It’s a legitimate, profitable opportunity for anyone who wants to make extra money.

Hard to qualify

A frequent complaint about ySense is that it’s very hard to qualify for surveys. There are several reasons for this:

  1. Target demographic: ySense offers surveys that are designed to gather data from specific groups of people, such as consumers who have recently purchased a particular product or service, or individuals with a certain level of education or income. If you don’t fit the criteria that the survey is looking for, you may not be eligible to participate.
  2. Limited number of spots: Many of the surveys on ySense have a limited number of spots available, and once those spots are filled, the survey is closed. This means that even if you meet the criteria for the survey, you may not be able to participate if all the spots have already been taken. In some cases, you may need to be quick in responding to the survey invitation in order to secure a spot.
  3. Screening questions: Before you can participate in a survey on ySense, you may need to answer a series of screening questions. These questions are designed to ensure that you meet the criteria for the survey, but they can also be used to filter out participants who may not provide useful data. If you answer the screening questions in a way that doesn’t match what the survey is looking for, you may not qualify.

Many 3rd party surveys

While some of the surveys are coming through from the parent-company Prodege, the majority of the survey invitations come from 3rd party survey networks. Third-party survey networks typically work with multiple survey panel companies, which means that individuals who join the network can access surveys from a variety of sources. This can increase the number of surveys available to participants and provide more opportunities to earn rewards.

Examples of 3rd party survey networks include YourSurveys (Cint), Samplicio.us (Lucid) and PeanutLabs (Dynata). These surveys are less targeted than ySense surveys, which means you’ll also get disqualified more frequently.

How does ySense work with 3rd party survey networks?

Here is an overview of the supply chain of programmatic sampling through survey networks such as Lucid and Cint:

  1. Market Research Buyers: The first step in the supply chain is market research buyers, who are businesses or organizations that want to conduct research studies to gather data about their target audience, customers, or market. These buyers work with survey networks such as Lucid and Cint to access a pool of potential survey respondents.
  2. Survey Networks: Survey networks such as Lucid and Cint serve as intermediaries between market research buyers and potential survey respondents. These networks provide access to a large pool of respondents who have opted in to participate in surveys and who match specific demographic or behavioral criteria.
  3. Supply Partners: Supply partners are third-party providers who work with survey networks such as Lucid and Cint to source and recruit survey respondents. These partners may include online publishers, social media platforms, or other companies that have access to a large audience of potential respondents. In this case, ySense is an example of a supply partner that works with survey networks to provide access to its community of users. ySense ensures that the respondents they provide to the survey network meet the specific criteria requested by market research buyers, which helps to ensure the quality and accuracy of the survey results.

What type of surveys can I expect?

The vast majority of surveys on ySense will cover consumer subjects.

Here are some examples:

  • Price sensitivity among consumers of soft drinks
  • Brand awareness and loyalty among users of laundry detergents
  • Factors that influence purchasing decisions for smartphones
  • Product usage and satisfaction for fitness trackers
  • Demographic characteristics of consumers who buy fast food
  • Attitudes and opinions towards vegan beauty products
  • Need for specialized features in gaming laptops
  • Willingness to pay a premium for organic baby food
  • Interest in emerging technology for home automation

The length of each survey will vary, but the majority will be within 5 – 15 minutes.

Is ySense legit?

ySense is owned by one of the largest market research providers in the US, Prodege. Despite complaints on sites like SurveyPolice, the panel should be considered legitimate. Make sure you only provide honest answers and only sign up with one account. If you are caught cheating, trying to earn a quick buck by lying or creating multiple accounts, you’ll risk losing the rewards accumulated in your account.
