uTest is a software testing website that pays you to test software or websites. It connects freelance testers with makers of software, smartphone apps, games, and other tech and consumer products. UTest was founded in 2007 with headquarters in Massachusetts, USA. 

Is uTest a legit survey site? 

uTest is a legitimate testing platform that will compensate you for taking part in their testing projects. uTest uses two functional testing methods to determine whether products will lead to the expected results, which are passed, or if they lead to unexpected results, which is a failure. Data Privacy: Any reason for concern? 

uTest assures its users that all information will be kept confidential and sensitive information will not be shared. This site does not collect any personal information unless you voluntarily provide it. It does not sell, rent, or lease its customer lists to third parties. uTest may share your data with trusted partners to help perform statistical analysis, send emails, supply customer support, or arrange for deliveries. Moreover, such third parties cannot use your personal information except to supply services to uTest and must always maintain the confidentiality of your data.

How to get started 

Go to https://www.utest.com/signup/ to register. Enter contact information such as name, email address, birth date, gender, and spoken language. The System will suggest a location based on your IP address. The information on the device you are using will automatically be detected. Add any other device you would like to use for testing. Enter and confirm the password you want to use for your uTest account. Then press Complete Setup.

uTest is available globally. You can join regardless of where you live. To sign up, you must be at least 18 years old and be able to sign a legally binding contract.

What about the survey experience? 

uTest can be used for purposes other than software testing. You may be asked to test mobile apps on occasion. As a result, using uTest on a mobile device will become mandatory rather than optional. The uTest mobile app can be obtained from the Android or iOS app stores. Their mobile app is very user-friendly, and its ease of use improves the overall usability of uTest. 

Pay is based on the bug accepted by the customer, not your time. The job offers need to be more consistent, and there is no guarantee you will be paid for all your reported bugs and test cases. However, this is an excellent place to gain testing experience if the pay is a minor factor.

How much can you make on uTest? 

Each successful testing project you complete will earn you money, which will be credited to your uTest account balance. Typically, you get paid between $1.75 to $17, and you will be paid in USD regardless of the country you register. You can be compensated via PayPal or Payoneer. All you must do after you’ve finished configuring it is wait for the pay period. Each month, payments are made on the 15th and last day of the month. Earnings of at least $2 per pay period will be automatically transferred to your preferred payment method. Because their payment is automatic, you only need to concentrate on their tests.

The payout rate for approved work depends on the complexity of the project. It will be different for every cycle. High-rated testers are paid more than low-rated ones. A tester selected as a favourite tester for a particular company will receive an added 5% payout uplift on all future issues submitted for this company. 

You will be paid a 75% referral commission when you join the uTest referral program, provided your qualifying referral submits approved work in projects on uTest.

What can prevent me from cashing out?

The most significant risk for not being able to cash out is if you will not find any error or bug acceptable to the customer. Only one account is allowed per person, and any attempts to create multiple accounts in the hope of testing numerous products to earn more money is considered fraud. You may be banned from the site, and any money you make will be forfeited.
