OpinionSquare Review

OpinionSquare is a data tracking software that claims to offer rewards and incentives for surveys and monitoring of users online. However, before you sign up for this platform, it’s important to take a closer look at the potential risks and drawbacks of using this site. From concerns about malware infections to questionable privacy practices, there are many reasons to be highly critical of this site. In this review, we will explore the pros and cons of using OpinionSquare and help you decide whether it’s a worthwhile investment of your time.

How to get started

Creating an account with OpinionSquare is a quick and easy process that only requires you to enter some personal information. To get started, you’ll need to provide your name, email address, and password, as well as answer a security question.

Additionally, OpinionSquare prompts you to complete a short member profile during sign-up, which includes details such as your address, date of birth, gender, and household information. However, the site also asks you to download its tracking software in order to begin earning rewards.

It’s worth noting that this software is classified as “riskware” by Malwarebytes, as it monitors your online habits and collects market data. While this information is used to connect you with relevant surveys, some users may feel uncomfortable with the idea of being monitored.

That being said, we found that it is possible to start the download process and then cancel it, and still be able to take some surveys on the site without the software installed. However, without the software, you will not qualify for as many surveys.

Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to use OpinionSquare’s tracking software is up to you, but it’s important to be aware of the potential risks and make an informed choice.

Note that OpinionSquare is part of a group of communities managed by the Comscore subsidiary TMRG that also include PermissionResearch, VoiceFive, and RelevantKnowledge.

Is OpinionSquare a legit survey site?

Some users argue that OpinionSquare is a legitimate software because it is upfront about its tracking and requires users to explicitly consent to downloading and installing the software. Additionally, the company states that the data collected is used for market research purposes only and is not shared with any third party without consent.

However, others argue that the potential risks of the software outweigh the benefits. The fact that it has been classified as riskware by Malwarebytes is a cause for concern. It is important to note that not all security software flags OpinionSquare as malicious, but the mere fact that it is flagged by some should give users pause.

Furthermore, the tracking software collects data on users’ online habits, which could include sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and browsing history. This raises questions about the privacy and security of this data, especially if it falls into the wrong hands.

While OpinionSquare may be a legitimate way to earn rewards for some users, the potential risks associated with the tracking software should not be ignored. Users should carefully consider the potential consequences before downloading and installing the software. It is always recommended to use reputable anti-malware software and to regularly scan your system for any potential threats.

Data Privacy: Any reason for concern?

Recent reports have raised concerns about the data tracking software, OpinionSquare, and the potential risks it poses to users. Malwarebytes, a reputable cybersecurity company, has classified OpinionSquare as “riskware,” indicating that the software has some malicious elements that could harm users’ devices.

This type of software is designed to track users’ online behaviour, with the aim of gathering data that can be used for market research purposes. However, the fact that it has been flagged as riskware suggests that it also has the potential to perform other, more sinister activities, such as downloading harmful software or stealing users’ personal information.

This is a significant concern for users who have downloaded the software in order to participate in OpinionSquare’s survey program. By agreeing to download the tracking software, users are unwittingly putting their devices and personal information at risk.

Furthermore, despite the potential risks associated with the software, OpinionSquare requires users to download it in order to start earning rewards. This puts users in a difficult position, as they must weigh the potential risks against the rewards of participating in the program.

In light of these concerns, it is important for users to be aware of the potential risks associated with downloading OpinionSquare’s tracking software. Users should carefully consider the risks and benefits before downloading the software, and take appropriate steps to protect their devices and personal information.

According to the website shouldiremovit.com, as many as 43 different anti-virus scanners have detected possible malware in OpinionSquare:

How much can you make on OpinionSquare?

OpinionSquare claims to reward users with tokens for participating in online surveys, which can then be redeemed for various prizes through their rewards website. However, users must accumulate at least 1,500 points before being eligible to redeem certain rewards. While some surveys provide monetary incentives in exchange for completion, users must wait 4-6 weeks to receive their cash rewards in the form of a check.

But that’s not all OpinionSquare offers. The platform also provides users with the opportunity to enter various sweepstakes, including a $100,000 cash prize draw for completing online surveys. Furthermore, participants have a chance to win $50, $2,500, or $5,000 by playing the “instant win game link.” Although two players are guaranteed to win $50 each month, the eligibility for the sweepstakes is limited to legal residents of the United States and Canada, excluding Quebec.

However, users should be wary of the potential risks associated with using the platform. OpinionSquare asks users to download tracking software, which has been classified as riskware by some antivirus programs. This software monitors users’ online habits, providing the platform with more market data, but could potentially put users’ sensitive information at risk. Additionally, some users have reported technical difficulties with the software, which could lead to frustration and wasted time. Finally, the monetary incentives provided by OpinionSquare are relatively small compared to the amount of time and effort required to complete surveys.
