Ipsos MediaCell and inCompass review

Ipsos inCompass is a panel that tracks how online users consume different media types, such as streaming tv-channels like Netflix and BBC iPlayer. Participants get compensated monthly for sharing their data through the Ipsos MediaCell and MediaLink apps.

Is inCompass legit?

Yes, this is a legit panel. inCompass is operated by Ipsos, one of the largest market research firms worldwide. By tracking the online behaviour of thousands of viewers every month, they can analyse different viewing trends and provide actionable insights for their clients. One of the key points of having to install so many apps is to enable Ipsos to track your total consumption of media across all devices, whether you’re watching TV at a friend’s house, streaming on your smartphone or listening to radio in the car.

What is Ipsos MediaCell?

Ipsos MediaCell is the name of a mobile app that tracks your online viewing behaviour through the smartphone. In addition to tracking your devices, the app can also record sound, enabling it to identify which TV and radio programmes you enjoy.

ipsos mediacell

What is Ipsos MediaLink?

Ipsos MediaLink is the name of a PC/Laptop/Tablet app which monitors how you use your devices.

Types of data tracked include:

  • Personal info: Email address and User IDs
  • App activity: App interactions, In-app search history and Installed apps
  • Web browsing: Web browsing history
  • App info and performance: Crash logs and Diagnostics
  • Device or other IDs

Is my data safe?

Ipsos is a company you can trust, so it’s more up to what type of data you feel comfortable sharing. And if you feel the compensation is worth it. Sharing all your browsing history is something many people will feel is intrusive, no matter how safe your data is.

What can I earn?

You earn £30 for the first month and then £10 for every consecutive month the app(s) actively transmit data to Ipsos. You can choose from a range of vouchers, or you can choose to donate your points to a variety of charities. Note that you can only join the panel if you have a valid invitation – it’s not a free for all type of panel where everyone can join.

Swagbucks Review Summary
Swagbucks is one of the grand old ladies of the online survey world. Here it's all about quantity; the more surveys you take, the more rewards you accumulate. Expect to wade through a ton of screenout questions which you'll never get paid for though. And when you do get rewarded, the incentive is usually very low.
