Center for the Decision Sciences
Review of The Center for Decision Sciences (CDS)
The Center for Decision Sciences (CDS) was founded at Columbia Business School in 1999. The department serves as a resource to encourage discussion between researchers in multiple disciplines and levels at the school. Among other topics, the centre facilitates research and understanding of consumer behaviour concerning decision-making, public policy and the neurological underpinnings of decision-making. Confidentiality is guaranteed in all research; your personal information will never be given or sold to any third party.
How much could I make?
Columbia offers a rate of about $16/hour if selected to participate in a study. This is fantastic news for anyone used to getting $1 or less for 15-minute surveys. On the other hand, you’ll need to expect a low volume of survey invitations, so don’t expect for this to become a substantial side gig in terms of income.
Should I sign up?
The $16/hour rate is at least twice as high as taking surveys through regular consumer panels. Surveys will also be more academic than your standard survey site, which will be great for some and irritatingly complicated for others. If you enjoy taking surveys for a company such as Prolific, you will likely enjoy this one. Just don’t expect a vast amount of survey invitations in your inbox, like with other run-of-the-mill survey sites.
